World of Tanks Generals combines card, RTS mechanics

Wargaming has added a new title to its line-up of popular combat titles, World of Tanks Generals.

The new offering will combine RTS and collectible card game mechanics, and will be free-to-play and browser-based for added accessibility.

Players take on the role of US, U.S.S.R, France or Germany and battle through World War II. Wargaming hasn't gone into detail, but there will be more than one single-player and multiplayer mode, taking in historical events.

Tanks, infantry and artillery are all on the cards, and you'll have the chance to research new tech and upgrade units.

World of Tanks Generals is undated but will also launch as a board game. Huh. Check out the game's website.

Wargaming's line-up of free-to-play games are tremendously popular, but when the company first tried to attract publisher support, it was called out for its "cheap, Asian stuff".
