Puppeteer is a new IP from Sony Japan Studio, and has just been unveiled at Sony’s pre-gamescom showcase.

Puppeteer stars a boy named Kutaro who is carried off by a the “maleficent Moon Bear King” to a black castle where he is transformed into a puppet. In the magical world , his head is bitten off, and it provides him with the power to wear new heads.

Armed with a set of magic scissors, Kutaro needs to find his head as well as the way home. The magical scissors can also be uses as a sword to fight enemies, chop through fabric and take on massive bosses.

It’s a platformer that has a puppet theatre aesthetic, similar to the arts and craft visuals of LittleBigPlanet.

No release date was given, but LittleBigPlanet fans will love the style.
