Planetside 2 will have an Australian server

Sony Online Entertainment boss John Smedley has confirmed on Twitter that Planetside 2 will have an Australian server. Smedley's comment that SOE will "bite the bullet and put a server down there" suggests the server will actually be located in Australia, not just a dedicated virtual destination, meaning the shooter MMO won't suffer the enormous lag spikes normally experienced by antipodean gamers connecting to US and especially European servers. Planetside 2 is in closed beta test and expected to be live before the end of the year.
