Rage of Bahamut publisher sees record sales

Global Internet company and social games publisher DeNA has reported record sales figures for the financial quarter ended June 30.

The folks behind such social games as popular Android trading carder Rage of Bahamut reported sales of $609 million for the first quarter, good for a 37 percent increase from this same time last year. Total profits, meanwhile, hit $131 million.

DeNA President and CEO Isao Moriyasu sees the success as "proof positive" that his company is "beginning to see a thriving business in the West."

“We are squarely focused on our goal of building the world’s top social games platform. We will achieve this by continuing to refine our technology, building the strongest game portfolio through internal studios as well as third parties and great IP partners, and serving our customers through our platform worldwide," Moriyasu added.

As for what the rest of the year holds for the pub, DeNA notes that they still have titles in the works based on major IPs such as Marvel and Transformers.
