Sleeping Dogs review influx begins
Sleeping Dogs reviews have begun popping up online, and early signs look good for United Front’s revival of the True Crime series. Scores here as they come.

United Front’s open world game has received praise for being both brutal and slick, although OXM has criticised the game for having a 14 hour campaign.
OPM call Sleeping Dogs, “2012′s most brilliantly brutal surprise”.
Here are the review scores:

Pre-ordered on PC. I’m hopeful it’s a good game.

People complain GTA for having campaign that’s too long (20-30hrs+) yet this gets slammed for being a more focused length?!
*Sigh*

Is 14 hours short? And is that just going from A to B and knowing what to do? The campaign estimates in reviews are never accurate for the actual time it takes most to play through and I am sure one can play this for longer since it is an open world game so playing the main campaign is not all there is to it.

Someone on neogaf is saying that the German edition of GamePro gave it 87%.

Ugh, I already have too many games purchased / pre-ordered this month and I was really on the rence. Now I’m tempted to pick it up!
Damn this horrible horrible addiction of mine to buy all the games I like the look of!

For how much I like the game, these review are coming out “suspiciously too soon”.
This means that either Square Enix handed the review codes very early to allow enough testing time, or the reviewers didn’t test the game thoroughly.

As fun as Saints Row but little bit more focused and serious.

No fricken way!!! The reviews that beat the embargo are both 9/10!?
What are the ODDS of that?
(Spoiler: It’s 1-to-1)

Seems to be off to a good start, I really hope this becomes a critical success just to show how wrong ActiVision were.

Activision is wrong?
Activision is wrong since 2007. Nothing new here. Let them milk shitty franchises.

@17, But this could very well be proof of how wrong they were, rest goes down to perspective, clearly putting all their eggs into one basket has paid off but I really hope to see it blow up in their face like Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk & Spiderman all over again.

@DSB
Odds of one-to-one are evens. I.e. If you bet £100 you’d get £200 back. Your stake + 1 * your stake.

@19 See, this is why I don’t gamble
It’s evens, evens I tells ya!
Thanks for sorting it out though.

Does anyone know where to preorder the game?
I am looking for a shop that ships the pegi version to Germany and also offers Pre-order Bonus and DLC. The Amazon.co.uk limited edition does not mention a preorder bonus at all. Amazon.de offers the martial arts pack but the German version will be censored a lot.
Steam does not mention the martial arts pack either.

@21 Ebay shops are probably your best bet. Shopto.net is where I’m getting my copy from (with the dlc) but I’m not sure if they ship to Germany.

14 hours “too short”? I don’t remember anyone slating “Teh Best Game Evaaar” Half Life 2 for being too brief, and I distinctly remember that clocking in at 14 hours or so. In fact, shy of Fallout 3 or any of the Elder Scrolls joints, show me a critically acclaimed game with a campaign significantly in excess of 14 hours.

@21 I remind you that the The Limited Edition already includes the George St.Pierre and the Police Protection Pack, which is a better bet than the Martial Arts pack you might only get with the Standard Edition somewhere else.
Not to mention that these preorder bonuses will be probably sold post-launch.

I was actually looking forward to this mainly because I was very disappointed with the fact that Rockstar ignored PC with Red Dead Redemption and I was really in need of a new decent Sandbox open-world action game. However being a fan of bashing people up with martial arts I saw a few trailers and looked good imo, so it got me very interested to play this. I’m hopping the game have a decent PC port with working controls with M&KB.
