Metal Gear Solid 4 trophy patch is 516mb, live now

Metal Gear Solid 4′s long overdue trophy patch is now live on PS3, and will take up a mere 516mb of your hard drive space, Konami has confirmed.

Konami has been Twitter-happy this morning, revealing the trophy patch file size first, and then posting a pack shot of Metal Gear Solid 4′s original release.

Konami also issued a statement regarding the patch, “The download will be automatically implemented the next time you login to PlayStation Network with Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece, and adds 34 Trophies to the game. The trophies reward players for skilled play and for finding easter eggs such as using a drum can to knock down enemies. There’s never been a better time to revisit one of the PlayStation 3′s most acclaimed titles.”

The patch will also come bundled with a Metal Gear Solid 4 re-pack edition launching in Japan some time in September.

@2, there is one gold trophy worth all the wait (Obtain all ipod tracks). This requires at least 8 playthroughs, anything that you can imagine is required in order to get all ipod tracks.

Why does it require such an insane amount of space just for trophies support? MS can patch games with 5mb patches, when sony allways has hundreds of mb’s. This seems to be a trend with PS3 patches and it’s just dumb.

@4 I think it has something to do with the fact that this patch is also a major update, which also allows the game to be installed completely on PS3 rather than chapter by chapter.

the patch size is ridiculous, 500mb. I like the notice on the patch that says ‘remove menu option for Metal Gear Online as it doesn’t exist anymore’ ha.

Also there is to note that i think the game autoinstalls all the level files instead of installing after every chapter, which is much better.
