Skyrim: Dawnguard PS3 quality ‘unsatisfactory’, expect delays

Friday, 3rd August 2012 10:37 GMT By Dave Cook

Skyrim: Dawnguard may have launched on Steam, but PS3 players will have to wait a little while longer for their chance to play due to quality issues, Bethesda has confirmed.

Over at the Bethblog, a statement reads, “We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse.”

“We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.”

Meanwhile, VG247 has assessed whether or not the wait for Skyrim: Dawnguard has been worth it. Read all about it here.

    So EVEN for Bethesda “we send our games and content with thousands of bugs”, this extension is still “too buggy” ?

    I love Bethesda and most of their games, but this is simply ridiculous. First they release Skyrim on PS3 and it runs like crap and now they can’t even get the DLC out.

    I understand that the PS3 is harder to develop for with more intricacies, but they should have their heads wrapped around it by now. They’ve only been working on it since the beginning of the generation with Fallout 3. With games series like Uncharted and AC showing off gorgeous graphics, there is simply no excuse for their incompetence with the platform.

    First of all AC games has no gorgeous graphics, second, it’s not just hard to develop.
    Ps3 have only 256 mb ram and OS takes a lot from that. You can blame only PS3 for that. Also, SKYRIM is a huge sandbox.

    Red Dead Redemption had frame rate issues and other stuff, so this is no different. Also, AC games on the PS3 have a lot of pop ups.

    @3

    That’s true. I believe RDR wasn’t even 720p on PS3. Quite bad really. But it’s nonsense to just blame it on the developer. A friend of mine does that too and it’s not right.

    @4, Actually you can blame Bethesda too because there are bugs even on the 360 version and 360 version they developed first and than ported to PC, PS3.

    PC have the best graphics, mods and stuff but Bethesda released it with shitty console interface. It is fine for Xbox 360 or PS3 but for PC is not really that great.

    So, Bethesda is not really a saint here.
