DotA 2 spectator mode updates, adverts incoming

DotA 2's spectator mode has been updated by Valve, adding in a new timeline view and space for online advertising.

PCGamesN reports on the new DotA 2 changes, including new visuals for the pre-game menu, as well as a timeline view that shows you whose turn it is, whatever moves they're making, as well as bans.

PCGamesN also reports that there is a space for online advertising, currently displaying banners for the next DotA 2 Invitational, although this space could be used by other tourneys or companies.

You are also free to rate each match as you watch it live, or watching recorded matches at a later date. There is also an option to filter matches by number of likes.

Valve has posted a full list of DotA 2's August 2 patch notes. Check them out here.

What do you make of DotA 2's advertising potential? Do you feel it intrusive, or is just the way of the future? Let us know what you think?
