FIFA 13 Kinect features video includes vindictive umpires

FIFA 13′s Kinect support includes such delights as referees getting snarky at you if you swear.

Mainly, the voice recognition is used so the player can choose formations, make substitutions and call plays.

Unfortunately, it also lets the umpires hear when you vent after a bad call. You won’t be penalised immediately for letting out a bit of blue language, but it may harden the ref’s heart towards you next time.

Is the first step towards a FIFA game with better “usability“? Or progres towards the singularity and our eventual future as slaves to robot kind?

FIFA 13 answers some of these questions on 3DS, DS, PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360 in northern autumn.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Geesh. I have a Kinect and see that some features can be useful (the dashboard and certain applications for instance). However, seeing developers trying to implement Kinect “features” into games is kind of sad.

how is this sad?

changing formations or substituting players on the fly is one of the better uses for kinect.

or changing your tactics, as using the d-pad for it is quite painful while traing to do a counter attack
