Steam hardware survey denotes increase in lower-end PC use

Valve has released the results of its latest Steam Hardware & Software Survey, and during June 2012, the firm noted an increase in Intel graphics as well as increased use of older dual and single-core systems. It also noted an increase in the use of DirectX 9. With resolution, 25% of participants used 1920x1080, while 18% preferred 1366x768, and 7% used 1600x900 resolution. The reason for the use of older hardware, according to PCGamesN, was more users playing Steam titles through their laptops as well as the rise in popularity in indie titles which support lower graphics.
