Sega to sponsor GMA’s Games Writer of the Year award

Sega is to sponsor the first Games Writer of the Year award at the year’s GMAs, Intent’s announced.

All games journalists – specialist, non-specialist, print and online – can enter. The award will be given based on a single piece of writing, which must have been published since October 26 last year.

The nominations will be judged – anonymously – by journalist and Guardian columnist Tim Lott. Submissions must be made by Monday July 23.

Lott offered: “It is encouraging to see excellence in writing supported in any field and Intent Media should be applauded in their efforts to raise the standards of journalism in gaming.”

Word from the wise. If you win it, don’t ramble on for ten minutes with the most poorly-judged speech of all time in front of a hostile crowd. Do yourself a favour.

Nah, Pat, some of that stuff needed to be said. I particularly enjoyed the term, ‘fuckhanded website’.
