Trent Reznor composing theme music for Black Ops II
Trent Reznor is the composer being the theme music for Black Ops II, according to USA Today. “I have always looked to that franchise as the cutting edge of what seemingly unlimited budgets and full-on not cutting any corners can do in the current day and age,” said the Nine Inch Nails frontman. “There is a lot of reservation and angst and sense of loss and regret and anger bubbling under the surface, so it didn’t make sense to have a gung ho patriotic feeling kind of theme song. It has to feel weighty.” Reznor’s previous game credits include Quake and originally Doom 3 until he had to leave the project.

No idea why Treyarch always insist on going with this rock/metal crap.
Having said that, at least they allow you to turn all the music off.
It’s annoying when you’re trying to listen for the other team’s footsteps, and all you can hear is really loud ‘YOU’VE LEVELLED UP!!!’ music blasting over all the in game sounds.

@3: Now that’s unfair. You’d do good to remember that he worked with Atticus Ross on both Soundtracks. That man should not be underestimated.

True. I didn’t mean to discredit Ross’ great contributions to both films. My point was the just because Reznor is composing BLOPs2, it doesn’t mean its gonna have trashy metal soundtrack or something.

I really like about a third of his music, but i could understand some people not liking it. taste in music is like taste in food: irrational and idiosyncratic. Hopefully the game will be worthy of it.

What a whore. NIN was largely never my thing but at least I had some respect for Trent. Now… gone.

That should be interesting…..
Trent’s music for games in the past sounded like NIN, but this kind of game requires a different touch. The man is talented though, he gets pidgeon holed as the “Industrial metal” guy, but I bet he can do other stuff quite well.
