Fassbender takes lead role in Assassin’s Creed film
Michael Fassbender will co-produce and star in the film of Ubisoft’s flagship Assassin’s Creed franchise, Variety has reported. Jean-Julien Baronnet, head of Ubisoft Motion Pictures, said that Fassbender was the studio’s “first choice” to don the iconic peaked hood, commenting that the Prometheus and X-Men: First Class star is “an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
Assassin’s Creed III, the fifth title of the main franchise, launches on console at the end of October and on PC in November.

Now that’s interesting. Still don’t think that the movie is ever going to be made.

@3 Personally, I would prefer it if used an original character in a unique setting, but still managed to fit into the overarching canon of the franchise.
That would be the best of both worlds.

I think it would be better off as a tv series, possible HBO, think of Game of Thrones scale but in the Assassins Creed world.

Wow, a decent actor for a video-game movie? Really interesting choice even if Mr Fassbender doesn’t look like any of the known protagonists.

Obviously a whiter than white guy is the best choice for the series olive skinned protagonists.

@9 What? The only “bronze-skinned protagonist” in the series to date has been Altiar.

@12 What? Desmond is white. He’s definitely not “olive”.
And nobody said he would be playing a part of Desmond’s bloodline anyway.

I believe Fassbender would make a great Altair. Sure, he doesn’t quite have the voice for it (or the skin tone), but he could definitely nail his attitude. Either way, hearing he’s involved with the Assassin’s Creed film does make the film adaptation look promising.

@11, nah, they’re all dark skinned. The choices of characters and locations used have been heavily influenced by keeping the bloodline believable.

Tell me those 3 men do not have similar shades of skin. If you want a better comparison fire up AssBro and leave the Animus and have Desmond stand beside each of the 3 very very white people in the room there.

I can’t wait for him to break character by letting his irish accent slip through randomly.
That Irish Magneto was something else.
