Rumor – Apple working on smaller iPad
A source close to The Wall Street Journal has said component suppliers in Asia are prepping a new iPad model with a smaller, 7 to 8-inch screen, similar to the Google Nexus 7, but non-HD. Sterne Agee analyst Shaw Wu, told WSJ he believes the rumored tablet will run around the $199, which is close to the price point of Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Wu also told Blomberg the device would be Amazon, Microsoft and Google’s “worst nightmare”.

They already have that, it’s called an iPod.

Why would it be Microsofts worst nightmare? I mean Google and Amazon I understand, but following the same logic Microsofts Surface already has a “worst nightmare”,the iPad

Inflammatory leak to dull the edge of the Nexus 7 release. The WSJ is just an Apple mouthpiece.

This seems like a dumb idea, and at $199 that price seems too low, more like $299 unless its not a retina screen. It would cannibalize regular ipad sales.
