Sony working on PlayStation 4 since August 2010, says CV
A LinkedIn CV of an ex-SCEA R&D director has revealed that Sony has been working on the successor to PlayStation 3 since August 2010 or earlier.

Attila Vass’s LinkedIn profile says he worked as director of research and development at SCEA from May 1998 to April 2012, adding that he worked on the graphic library and security for the “Next Generation PlayStation” between August 2010 and April 2012.
The job description on his profile also confirms that he was involved in working for Sony’s “next-gen” platforms.
“In 1998 I started as the first engineer in the Playstation US R&D,” says Vass’s profile.
“I worked on graphics ( COLLADA, PSGL ) and a lot of network related technologies ( advertising, telemetry, PVRs ) for the Playstation2-x, PSP, Vita and Next Generation platforms. Platform security was occupying most of my time at the last years… ”
VG247 was told earlier this year that Sony is aiming to launch PlayStation 4 before Xbox 720 next Christmas.

Next E3 is gonna bring a shitstorm of awesomeness. Seriously, Sony and MS will reveal their next gen system along with the next gen titles while Nintendo will no doubt show the highly anticipated Zelda, Metroid and others for Wii U on HD.

If rumours are true, Sony want theirs out before MS, obviously both will show at E3 but still would have thought they’d announce it sooner, more chance then for marketing and people to save.

The thing is, nothing is certain about that. MS says there’s still more than two years left in the 360′s ‘life’ Now they could mean that there really won’t be a Xbox 3 in those two years, or they mean both 360 and Xbox 3 can exist next to eachother.
Sooner or later they are gonna have to, so i guess next year E3 is a safe bet.

I think they’d want to run them together since so many more people have an xbox this time round, than last gen. I think someone said even when they release the nextgen xbox, they will still be working with the 360 for at least a few yrs

there is no surprise here. Once the finished a platform they are probably thinking at what to do next.

4 Gb of ram will be there 100%.
4Gb of ram is cheap as hell right now for a PC. Even for next gen games 4 GB ram is not That much.

I think the “type” of ram would be more important than its size. Hopefully neither one of MS or Sony go the Nintendo route (Cheap, technically dated next-gen console).

Eh, with the financial hole that Sony is in, i don’t see this as being successful. I mean, if they are going to go through with this, Sony better get their financial problems in order first.

The gaming part of sony is actually the successful part so much so SOny is putting more money into it.

Really? Huh, odd. I’ve been hearing that Sony’s stock is down, and CEOs are getting pay cuts. Not to mention the stepping down of Kaz Hirai from chairman of Sony. Kind of seems like Sony is circling the drain.

He is stepping down as a chairman but will still remain as the president and CEO of the company. Also only one Ceo received a pay cut not all of them.
