“No definitive plans” to continue Resistance franchise

Tuesday, 26th June 2012 06:08 GMT By Brenna Hillier

With three core games and two portable spin offs under its belt, the future of the Insomniac-created Resistance franchise isn’t certain.

Speaking to OPM UK, Resistance: Burning Skies producer Daniel Brooke said Sony hasn’t committed to continuing the Resistance series.

“The Resistance franchise has been exciting to work on but as for the future we have no definitive plans,” he said.

The most recent releases in the series are Resistance 3, which hit PlayStation 3 in September 2011, and Resistance: Burning Skies, a Vita title from May.

Franchise creator Insomniac has left the property in Sony’s hands.

Thanks, IGN.

bullshit. it is a great franchise. erth just judges games by their graphical disguise. he fails to see the beauty of a game if it isn´t at least aa, 60 fps, 1080p. if it is a console only fps, he´d hate it even if it was the best looking game in the universe. he´s a man with principles but to the extent of ignorance sadly.
resistance is an insomniac game (ratchet and clank) and this is probably why it is among the most fun shooters. the gameplay is awesome fun, because the weapons are so much fun to shoot.
    the bullseye and auger…beautiful.
if anyone hasn´t played a resistance game and plans to do so i would recommend to start with 2- just to get into it, you might feel one being a bit dated and then you might not want to continue with the other games which would be a shame. 1 is still great though. 2 is the best imho. i would play, 2,1,3.
that said. sony, what´s the mater with you since vita´s launch? burning skies was a mess. but resistance as a franchise has enourmous potential.
wake up….and make a medievil game finally.

Probably time to move on. One was a very slow starter with a great and very well told story. Two introduced a fair number of silly things and lost a lot of the atmosphere, but I loved the end. Three I didn’t bother with. All of them had some great fun multiplayer though.

Probably the worst franchise of the current console generation. I’m glad its gone.

I liked the first one but I think that was because it was back when the current gen was next gen and really amazing so anything Id played would have seemed awesome. I recently bought a PS3 and got the first two but couldn’t get into them now, I didn’t really like them, so I’m more on the ‘there bad anyway’ side.

    What DrDamn said.

#2, he’s a chippy. Simple as that. Little miserable nerd literally loathes console first person shooters.. Wait, he doesn’t even loathe them per se, he loathes the idea of the genre going to consoles.. He tricks himself into believing all the nonsense he makes up (he just continuously makes shit up, exaggerating any possible cons he can find in the reviews and articles scattered around)and keeps on making shitty comments on internet blogs to ease the pain of insecurity. See, usually people have something to care about, this hopeless, cornered bolshevik has PC and computer toys.

Besides the pos simply has no taste =(, he’s been sullying this website with his poorly written bullshit for about two years already.

Resistance 1 was pretty fuckin’ awesome. Its multiplayer was so much fun, it’s still my number 1 when it comes to MP shooter experience. Resis 2 wasn’t as good when it comes to MP but the online campaign with 8 players was fantastic. Unfortunately it went downhill after that in my opinion. I didn’t even buy Resis 3 because the beta was too much of a disappointment. :/

R3′s campaign was the highlight of the series, unfortunately ‘Nobody’ bought it which is a shame.

R2 was a bit of a misstep admittedly but on the whole the story arc was pretty interesting IMO.

Resistance 3 is really awesome: no health-regen, weapon wheel with lots of original weapons, a great diversity in enemies, gameplay tactics and environments etc. One of the best FPS games of this generation imo, it’s sad it didn’t sell

I did like this series too, is not like the other heavy hitters in this category, but man it was a fun game with great guns, and a nice story.

A classic example of a fps which stands out from the rest of the “cod clone” fps pack only to bite dust. I saw many “gamers” say “games arent innovating”. Well, here was a fps with a storyline which is the best in this genre and fluid gameplay to match the awesome story and good scores by leading magazines, but only thing missing was sales. Lets face it, most “gamers” hate innovation and are just not ready to spend on anything else than a cod, bf, diablo and so on.
