Website ordered to remove Xbox 720 leaked document

A website carrying the leaked document allegedly pertaining to the specs and features of the next Xbox has been ordered to remove it by Microsoft.

Last weekend, a document alleged to contain features, details and other juicy morsels about the next gen Xbox appeared on the internet, courtesy of Scribd.

The document has since been removed from the website at the request of law firm, Covington & Burling LLP.

Now, EG has reported that Czech Republic technology site, ihned.cz has been issued a similar takedown notice by Microsoft.

Microsoft are said to have claimed ownership of the document, which it called its “Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) Roadmap”. An addendum to the original report on the Ihned.cz website states that it was contacted by Microsoft who claimed that publishing the document breached copyright.

Industry analyst Michael Pachter has stated that a spring 2014 launch for the next gen console “makes sense”.

Guess that confirms that its legit. Bet some people are teary with joy and others are bashing their heads out.

Can’t say I’m surprised – the document covered everything that has been leaked about the “Xbox 720″ (working title please?) so far.

Dedicated Kinect… wooo, he comes the future?

So it was real, then.

Good.

It was “real” in that it was produced by Microsoft. Whether or not it’s actually remotely accurate is a different question.

Lol @ people still struggling to accept that the doc is legit.

Sure, the doc is legit. But of course, being two years old, many things are bound to change over the course of the project.

However, I seriously doubt that the main aspects of the roadmap will change. Kinect v2, Kinect glasses, SmartGlass, etc.

They’ve just confirmed two things by this action:
A. The leaks were real and accurate.
B. While they were from 2010, their plans haven’t changed much compared to them meaning that whatever crap was on those docs, is gonna become reality.

Sure can’t wait to play my video games wearing two pairs of glasses. It’ll be just like giving myself a headache at the cinema!

Microsoft’s ‘statement’ about the doc is a classic:

“We understand there is great interest and anticipation for what comes next for Xbox and we are lucky to have customers who are so passionate about the platform.

Today, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360 console. We have found new ways to extend the console lifecycle by introducing controller-free experiences with Kinect and we’ve re-invented the console with a new dashboard and new entertainment content partnerships.

We are continually thinking about the future of the platform and when we have something to share, we will.”

I stopped caring about console specs a long time ago. Show me some new IPs, some new game-play mechanics. More Halos and CoDs aren’t a system seller for a single-games player like me.
