The Nintendo-owned developer is busy working on a Wii U title, but according to Miyamoto it most certainly ain’t Zelda. That’s one IP to cross off the list, then.
Speaking to IGN, Shigeru Miyamoto said that the notion of Retro Studios developing a Zelda title in the future isn’t “out of the question”, but that “they’re too busy for that sort of thing right now.”
The Texas-based subsidiary of Nintendo, well-known for its work on the Metroid trilogy across the Game Cube and Wii platforms and for 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns, is “hard at work” on a Wii U title but there’s little clue as to what it might be or even when we’ll hear about it.
Meanwhile, Miyamoto has previously suggested that the next Zelda title is still at the planning stage and so it could be a while before we hear about that one too.
