Max and the Magic Marker developer now Microsoft-owned

Microsoft has acquired Danish mobile studio Press Play.

The developer's best known offering, Max and the Magic Marker, is a bit of a Windows Phone 7 success story.

The formerly indie team actually seems relieved by the news, which will grant it financial security.

"In a weird and non-indie way, we believe that we will have more creative freedom with Microsoft Studios than we have ever had before. For the first time ever we can focus ALL energy on our games, and great things are on the horizon," a statement on Press Play's website noted.

Press Play is also responsible for Tentacles.

Thanks, Shack.
