More grunt, lower prices top Sleeping Dogs dev’s next-gen wishlist

It’s always interesting to find out what those who have to work with it want from next generation hardware; United Front Games’ Jeff O’Connell wants the price to go down, for one.

“For me, it’s lowering the cost and making things more accessible for the average consumers,” O’Connell told Xbox World, as reported by CVG.

Having said that, the Sleeping Dogs producer said he’s also after some expensive hardware upgrades.

“Obviously making triple-A titles for the immersiveness of the story is becoming more and more a part of those games. More RAM and graphical horsepower will make it easier to connect with audiences on those things,” he said.

More specifically, O’Connell wants to see where non-traditional controls go in the future.

“For a game like this especially where there’s a melee component to it, I’d be very interested to see what the hardware manufacturers are doing with the next generation of body movement recognition,” he said.

“Obviously it would be very difficult to beat the current controller set up for a game like this where there are so many things to do. I’d be interested to see what they’re thinking up there and how that could be, even sparingly used in a next gen title like this one.”

We don’t expect new hardware announces until E3 2013 at the earliest.

United Front Games’ latest effort, Sleeping Dogs, hits PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in August.
