Shadows of the Damned director working on “movie length game”
Shadows of the Damned director Massimo Guarini has announced he’s working on a movie-length, “emotionally challenging,” game with his new independent studio Ovosonico. While the title is still in the very early stages, Guarini said he wants to craft a memorable experience in a movie length time frame that explored more than “throw-away iPhone games and 40-hour long traditional productions.” Further details were not announced. Thanks, Gamespot.

Movie length? What’s that supposed to mean? 2 hours max?

Probably similar to Telltales games.

Where have all the 40hours traditional productions gone on the HD consoles? I would fairly say that 8 hours is a solid SP game nowadays. Nonetheless, I’ll buy anything Guarini is involved.

anything over 10 hours feels long these days.
the attention span of gamers semmed to drop heavily in the last few years
its good there are still long games like the fallout series or GTA/RDR

THere is also something else you are forgetting about that has gone with games the overall cost of development what once was 500k to develope a BG is now 30-40 million along with the average gamer being between mid twenties to early 30s whose average gaming time is 8 hours a week. THats why games are shorter.
