Microsoft issuing refunds for Minecraft splitscreen issue

Microsoft has agreed to issue refunds to players who purchased Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition but can't use split-screen multiplayer on their SD displays.

The platform holder told Kotaku that not everyone is eligible, as a change has been made to the sandbox adventure's Arcade listing.

"We updated our pre-sale notification to inform customers that an HD screen is required for the split-screen multiplayer feature on Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition," a company spokesperson said.

"If a player does not have an HD screen and purchased this game prior to the notification update, they are eligible for a full refund through customer support."

Reports suggest applying for a refund has had mixed results.

Despite the lack of couch co-op for the CRT crowd, Minecraft has sold great guns since its release on Xbox Live Arcade, totting up over 1 million sales in its first week, proving profitable in less than an hour and breaking day-one sales records for the service.
