Gran Turismo 6 turns up on Sony marketer CV

Tuesday, 22nd May 2012 23:36 GMT By Brenna Hillier

A SCEA staffer has apparently let slip that Gran Turismo 6 marketing is already in the works.

In a LinkedIn Profile for one of Sony Computer Entertainment America’s associate brand managers, Gran Turismo 6 is listed among managed products, suggesting a reveal may be closer than expected.

The Gran Turismo 6 reference is in present tense, while later talk of Gran Turismo 5 is in the past, which the canny NeoGaf massive rightly points out makes a typo seem less likely.

The content has since been edited but you can check out a cached version here.

Gran Turismo 5 was released in late 2010 but is still being actively supported by developer Polyphony Digital with updates, DLC and GT Academy. Nevertheless, the long development cycle of the racing sim series means the team has already confirmed the next game is in development, and that it may launch on the next PlayStation console. Polyphony staffers have allegedly been spotted scoping out tracks worldwide.

@2.. hahaha. I was about the write the same thing when I saw your reaction. Though, don’t you think that Fall 2014 is a bit early for the prologue ;)

But ehm.. I think GT6 will get a reveal at this E3, but that it will be developed for the PS4. And it won’t be revealed on the podium, but as a press release. And some video on the PS stand itself. But.. i guess we will see in about 2 weeks from now ;)

U know, I totally wouldn’t be shocked at all if GT6 is a PS3 release. I mean sure, I’m not betting my money highly on it, but again, wouldn’t be suprised. Seeing as how despite the long development time of GT5, it still basically printed money for Sony after it released, and you’d have to think (at least hopefully think) Polyphony has mastered their tech enough to the point that they could make and release another Gran Turismo game in a more timely manner, because if there’s one thing GT5 absolutely nailed, it was driving. Though there are 6 things I’d say that would need improvement when going from 5 to 6; #1. Improve the crash damage, don’t just make it some cosmetic BS that adds nothing to the overall experience as it was in GT5. #2 Have better designed environments, because just about everyone outside of London, Italy, and the Tokyo night driving courses were dull and lifeless. #3 Don’t make the official peripherel for your game $600!!! Seriously! I don’t care how much a damn racing wheel can be customized, at most, it’s worth at least half of what it costs. #4 Make a better menu, because the menu system’s just clunky. #5 have better sound design for the cars. GT might truly be the most realistic driving sim out there, but Forza’s whipping their ass when it comes to sound design, and that’s disappointing, seeing as how most of Sony’s other first party studio’s game have excellent design, hearing the sounds in GT5 compared to Sony’s other games, and even Forza, GT5 sounds underpowered. And #6, make more cars available to drive at launch, and just a possible suggestion, how about being able to import cars from GT5 into GT6?
