Sly: Thieves in Time to get Vita SKU, sim-launch with PS3

Sanzaru head Glen Egan’s announced on GTTV Sly: Thieves in Time will get a Vita version that’ll launch day and date with the PS3 version.

The Vita version will also come with cloud save support between it and the PS3 SKU.

And to drive the point home this is the same Thieves in Time that’ll also be coming to PS3, the Vita version will contain the same gameplay and graphics as the console version.

The GTTV video also introduces Carmelita as a playable character for the game.

Announcement video is below, via GAF, although it’s pretty poor quality.

Sounds like there might be a Vita version of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on the cards too:

Nice idea, that’s Sony problem they can never impliment
features across the board. This’ll only become infrequent.

Ports.

They designed PS Vita with ports in mind, i guess it is really easy to port from PS3 SKU to the VITA SKU like from Xbox 360 to PC.

Well, good luck kicking yourself in the ass with these ports. That’s not what people want and more you do, more people will give a Fuck about your system.

A good game is a good game. PS3/Vita integration is nice and one of the strengths of the Vita. Also, if it’s launch day and date with the PS3 then isn’t that a “version” and not a “port”. :P

Would like to know what the price of the PS3/Vita version bundle is.

@ Erth I think if we get some good ports with cloud saves between versions for continuous play in limited edition ‘Day One Dual Game Editions’ for say an extra £10 that could work and would maybe encourage more people to pre order for limited editions,

BUT – there also has to be unique games that are Vita exclusive too, but who wouldn’t want their PS3 games in their pocket??

The reason why software never sold on the PSP is because of Ports.

This trend just continues for now and it’s not the best sign for the healthy system that’s just launched.
Good game or not, you can play the same game on the PS3. Most of the people won’t spend money on the handheld to play “ports”.

People bought DS and it’s software because it was designed For the system and DS was inferior to PSP in every way there is.

Cloud saves and etc. are cool, but where are Original Games that are designed for PS Vita? I bought the system for that, not for Ports.

@5, Agreed, this whole anti-port thing Erth has is ridiculous, but inside his twisted mind, he does have a point that you mentioned, there also has to be unique games that are Vita exclusive too. Doesn’t mean every PSV game should be 100% original, that’s absurd, but nor can it rely entirely on ports. In fact, one of the great things about the PSV actually is ports, its the first portable console capable of playing games designed for a home console with minimal impact on the core game.

@6″The reason why software never sold on the PSP is because of Ports” That just simply isn’t true, while it definitely contributed to it, it wasn’t THE reason.

“Doesn’t mean every PSV game should be 100% original, that’s absurd”

Uh-uh. Yeah?

How about DS library that was in 80% of original games designed for the system? Mkay?

“one of the great things about the PSV actually is ports”

Lolwut?

“its the first portable console capable of playing games designed for a home console with minimal impact on the core game.”

Your fanboyism never ends.

Soul Sacrifice,Little Deviants,Reality Fighter,Gravity Daze,Smart As,Unit 13,Sound Shape,Escape Plan,Dokuro,Orgarhythm,Nippon The Ichi Software 20th Anniversary Title are all New IP and people still complaint that PSVita has no original IP.
Every console has remake and nobody has a problem with that why just PSVita and PSP can’t have remake or port?

The DS relied on gimmicks because it couldn’t handle home console quality games, the 3DS still can’t. You can’t tell me that Pokemon & Mario are 100% original either. Totally different market.

In fact, lets look at the top 10 selling NDS games: Super Mario Bros. Nintendogs, Mario Kart, Brain Age, Pokemon, Brain Age 2, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Super mario 64.

Actually, lets go another 10: Mario Party, Pokemon, Big Brain Academy, Dragon Quest IX, Cooking Mama, Professor Layton, Mario & Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games, Zelda, Pokemon, Lego Star Wars.

If you’re going to be a prick, at least get your facts straight. Not one of these is both original & not gimmicky.

Yes it does. Doesn’t mean every game has to be though – there needs to be balance. Something like cloud saving and pick-up where you left off on your home console is an fantastic feature for games to have though. To go off on a port rant *again* is getting tedious. It’s going to get releases like this because it can – which as you point out is also a good thing.

“How about DS library that was in 80% of original games designed for the system? Mkay?”

Because it couldn’t do versions of regular games justice. There was a lot of dirge in there too. If a game is good *and* suits the platform then I welcome it.

@9
Your problem there is that you are trying to use facts – not gonna work – Erth doesn’t work with facts, they bore him.

I can’t help feeling that certain comments are just ported from other discussions.

I guess that means they don’t count.

“In fact, one of the great things about the PSV actually is ports, its the first portable console capable of playing games designed for a home console with minimal impact on the core game.”

Umm that was the main selling port of the Sega Nomad a handheld that could literally play home console games, it played Sega Genesis/Megadrive carts. And also the earlier Sega Game Gear which also was mainly billed as a port machine having games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Battletoads, Columns, and Mega Man etc ported to it. Both systems failed horribly.

Console level games was also the main selling point for the PSP even if it did lack the second analogue.

If there is one thing we know about Sony it’s the King of Exclusives and I’m sure we’ll have plenty games that are Vita only which will be great (Gravity Daze for 1).

But the continue your PS3 game on the move is a fantastic feature that can only enhance things.

I also thing game companion Vita games could be good too:

Say you have GTA for PS3 and you get a free companion app that allows you to do side missions/mini games to increase money/weapons etc on the go that are then unlocked when you boot up PS3 again.

you realize that most of these games SUCK?
Gravity Daze and maaaybe Soul Sacrifice is cool.

PSP had a lot of these New iP’s too and it failed to sell it’s software.
Because software SUCKED.

It’s not about Original iP’s. It’s about GOOD games. If your game is original but suck, no one is ging to buy that software.

Good lord. It’s that hard to understand i see.

@CJ, “The DS relied on gimmicks because it couldn’t handle home console quality games, the 3DS still can’t. You can’t tell me that Pokemon & Mario are 100% original either. Totally different market.”

First of all. DS original design was not for console quality games. Console quality games were on Gamecube and that was enough.
Console quality games does not mean that it is a better game. It’s bigger in scope but that’s it.
Second, Mario is original and Pokemon is Nintendo’s thing too. People enjoy it and that is important. System sells, more games are made for the system.

“If you’re going to be a prick, at least get your facts straight. Not one of these is both original & not gimmicky.”

i never said something about original games. I want GOOD games.

Not ports. Do you understand or not? Just good games designed for the system. Good games sell the system

Erthazus like games like Nintendo Dog and Cook Mama in DS and 3DS?
You don’t even try any of new ip in PSVita and you say this games sucks
many persons love Escape Plan and love the announcement of Sound Shape expect of Reality Fighter and maybe Littles deviants the rest seem to be good.

@18 There are lots of people who has a Vita and doesn’t have a PS3, why wouldn’t they want to play a game that is on PS3 too?

It’s just convenient to have the games on both platforms and it doesn’t mean there would not be games specific or exclusive for Vita.

I agree at some extent with Earthazus, i think that both versions of the game, should be at least very different in nature, both suit for the expecific type of console, a hanheld game shouldnt be the same as its console counterpart, both are different in nature, i dont know many of gamers tastes, but playing a console game that requires concentration, long playing sessions, etc, it will not work as well on a handheld, it should be quite the opposite, games that not require full focus on it due the every day distractions on the travel, outside the house, etc and short burts of playing sessions, i think vita should find a healthy balance between this ports and hanheld mindset games, IMHO.

#26

but a game like this will certainly work well on both systems. the vita version will also feature the rear touchpad and gyrostuff. for a game like this i really do not see a problem.

“i think vita should find a healthy balance between this ports and hanheld mindset games, IMHO.”

i totally agree with this.

Now yet another game to look forward on vita. 3ds did not had any great games in the first 3-4 months (1st was ocarina of time). This shows Sony’s focus on vita. Hope 3rd parties show the same focus too.
Cant wait for E3 and the great announcements that await for vita!!!!!
