Official: GameStop to sell Steam wallet cards in the U.S

As rumours suggested last week, GameStop has now officially confirmed it'll collaborate with Valve to sell Steam Wallet codes in its stores across the US.

The Steam Wallet cards will come in $20 and $50 denominations, and will be available for purchase starting today. They can be redeemed on Steam by entering the code which is printed on the card.

GameStop's general manager of digital distribution, Steve Nix, said it was a welcome move.

"This gives even more options to customers now that they can put money in their Steam Wallet using cash, gift cards or trade credits through our convenient neighborhood locations," he said.

"Offering Steam Wallet codes at GameStop extends more options and convenience to gamers around to the world," agreed Valve's Jason Holtman.

Although the deal will allow gameStep a bit of the Steam pie, it has generated some surprise; GameStop offers a rival digital distribution service.
