Former Irrational Games and Harmonix devs announce new game

Ex- Irrational Games, Harmonix, and Iron Lore developers have come together to form a brand new indie game studio called Eerie Canal Entertainment, and have announced their debut game, Dreadline.

The studio, which is based out of Boston, described its first game as beingĀ a mach up of Diablo and Freedom Force.

Dreadline will allow players to control a group of monsters who travel to “human calamities” (for example, The Titanic and Pompeii) in order to finish off ill-fated victims and relieve them off their misery.

Here’s the official blurb on what the studio’s all about:

“Eerie Canal Entertainment is an independent game company recently formed in Boston, MA formed by Bryn Bennett and Steven Kimura. The two have collectively worked on such titles as System Shock 2, Bioshock, Titan Quest, Guitar Hero 2, Freedom Force 2, as well as the entire Rock Band collection.”

An official website is also live, which you can bookmark to catch up with all the updates regarding their new game.

Is 9/11 included those “calamities”? What about Chernobyl? Heck, does last years freak disasters in Japan make an appearance?

Seems a bit distasteful.

Yea this is quite out of touch. Going to disasters that actually happened and killing the rest of the people who survived? Hm.

Holy shit. HOLY SHIT. This is beyond risky. Really dangerous idea that could easily fall on the side of tasteless.
If done properly though, this could be one of the most evocative and interesting games made in a while. Looking forward to it.

Nice! Thought how nice depends on the amount of “finishing moves” available and how gorish will these be.

@1 Ah stfu. Can you not make a difference between games and real life? Douche bag!

You can watch it in motion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nge-pXc13L8&feature=youtube_gdata_player. At the end of the vid is some gameplay. Has nothing to do with tasteless stuff, albeit the graphics, maybe.

I love the name. And the concept. And the trailer. Man, I think I’m going to love this game.
