Blockbuster announces new reward scheme, Blockbuster VIP Gamer

Blockbuster has announced a new reward scheme which will reward gamers for "their gaming behaviour and knowledge," and not just for "spending money."

The Blockbuster VIP Gamer initiative will provide members with 100 points for every £1 spent in-store and online on gaming products. They will also receive points for trade-ins as well as watching the latest trailers, "rating their favourite games" and "even for entering competitions."

Customers can sign up to the reward scheme here and immediately get rewarded with 2,500 points.

As members earn points they will "climb through eight levels of rewards, with the offers for the redeemable points becoming more desirable."

For example: points can be used against free game rentals in-store, a £5 off voucher for any pre-owned game over £25 and at the top end of the scale, they can get a free Xbox 360 for 360,000 points.

To celebrate the launch, a number of competitions giving members the chance to win Mass Effect 3 and Prototype 2, as well as a consoles is going on now.
