Inside Xbox production to be discontinued in US, Canada, Australia

Wednesday, 2nd May 2012 19:25 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Microsoft has announced it will discontinue production of Inside Xbox in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Xbox Live in EMEA is currently looking at its operating model for the series, which according to Major Nelson “could potentially result in some changes, but we have no news here to share yet.” Xbox Live in Mexico and Japan will continue to produce first-party content for its members via other media outside of the Inside Xbox brand. The firm will be “leveraging third-party news and video content available through a variety of existing and future partners,” such as IGN, and supplementing said content with “select first-party offerings.” Shows like Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves packaged under the Inside Xbox brand will be culled as well.

The US Inside Xbox stuff has always been pretty cringe worthy stuff but Ill be pissed if they kill off the UK guys stuff. Its always been rather good from Acey Bongos onwards. Even if I hate the two guys that present everything I still have to admit that its largely entertaining.

Plus Independint Charles and now Log have/had their own shows, which is pretty ballsy.

Oh Inside Xbox? Haven’t heard that name for a while. Used to enjoy it admittedly… Then new dashboard update came along and essentially made it hidden behind all the adverts.

What a disappointing message to send. They really aren’t terribly interested in games much nowadays, are they?
