I think I’m gonna pass on this one. I don’t like the “use your dark sides” signal this one is sending, and it doesn’t particularly look as if you can be a true silent assassin in the oldfashioned way. What’s up with the violence porn when you strangle someone? In the previous games it would be un-dramatic – job done, nothing else. To me this like a celebration of killing.

@2 Why not enjoy something that you’re very good at ? :)

The trailer shows us that we can still be the silent assassin 47, dragging bodies away silently, making kills silent and all that. And at the same time we can do what we could since Codename 47, go Rambo style. Definitely not what i’m going to be doing. But the shooting mechanics look really good though and so do the physics by the look of it. It’s gonna be all about the silent kills for me though, surpressed hardballers or maybe some brutal melee kills.

Moments like this, makes one proud to be a dane ^^
@2
Pretty much every trailer for all the Hitman games has been trailers that were about the violence, if my memory serves me well.

@5: Not your achievement, so no reason for you to be proud. ;)

Sorry guys had to pull the video. It’s an exclusive to IGN so I removed it on behalf of Square.

@4

I meant like in the previous games where you only kill the targets and no one else. With the elimination of several policemen and thugs it doesn’t appear to be an option.

@11

Thats maybe how you played the game but not me. I usually had a lot of collateral damage.

They had me at the fire axe.

I think it’s about time Hitman grows up. Pretty much ever since the first game I’ve been dying for more missions like the Hotel one, but they never showed.

Oh man the hotel level from Codename 47. How many times i replayed that one i don’t know, but its ALOT! The level design was damn good in that one too, and yeah i agree…there hasn’t been a level like that since. But Blood Money still had some damn nice levels though.

I’m actually eager to play it after I’ve seen this footage. Are the graphics looking pretty good, or is it me? At least I’m satisfied of what they’ve shown so far. While I agree that the kills are pretty much violence porn, and they’ve shown a little bit more action than I was expecting, I am waiting for this.

Beginning of game have ”Arkham asylum” atmosphere.
I think game is shape up pretty good.Stealth is maybe now more like Splinter cell indoor and traditional hitman stealth outdoor which is good thing.

@13

One of my points was that it doesn’t seem possible to play it said way anymore hence my criticism of it. It was not a critique of different play styles. It looks like silent gung-ho and gung-ho instead of silent assassin and gung-ho.

@19 Devs have said you can play the entire level without killing anyone outside of what the mission target is. They aren’t going to make a trailer showing Agent 47 stalking a single prey because that would be boring.

@20

Yes, I have read somewhere too that it should be possible to become a silent assassin but nothing about “without killing anyone except the target”. And nothing in the previews or videos so far indicates that it is possible. I don’t see why they wouldn’t show a trailer or a preview walkthrough where Hitman mainly stalks a target. As for the trailer it is just a matter of editing techniques.

@21 Just like in Splinter Cell you ”can” but its much easier and fun to knock them or killed them when you are spoted.

@22

You are right sir/mam. It is definately much easier to do it the gung-ho way. It takes effort to be the “good” guy.

They have put out a walkthrough of the first level and I am sure at E3 you will see another one.

@25
Yes about the walkthrough but as I recall it doesn’t actually show the option not to kill the officers, at least not all of them. About the E3-possibility; I hope you are right.

Never played a hitman game before, but looks mighty good. Which of the older ones are worth getting before this?
