New Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance teaser hints at the return of Solidus

The “Make It Right” teaser countdown on the official Metal Gear Rising Revengeance website has ended, revealing a new live-action teaser titled “ARM”.

The teaser features a group of scientists who seem to be recovering data from the dismembered arm of Raiden. Raiden is seen dipping in and out of consciousness as a result and experiences a number of flashbacks of his childhood.

As Metal Gear fans might be familiar with, Raiden was a child soldier under Solidus during the Liberian Civil War which took place in the late 1980s. The teaser seems to hint at the return of Solidus as his voice, that of John Cygan, can be heard in the trailer if you listen attentively.

Raiden’s voice actor in the game, Quinton Flynn, tweeted last week that he was working on a unnamed project with John Cygan.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is in development for PS3 and Xbox 360 by Platinum Games and is expected to release at the end of the year. You can watch the trailer below.

I think the biggest problem of this teaser is the fact that it uses live-action footage. They should’ve used CGI instead. Live-action gives it such a cheap look.

The content of the teaser though does seem to be interesting. I’d love to know more about Raidens past and his relationship to Solidus Snake.

Surely a young Solidus would have the same voice as Snake/Naked Snake? I mean, in MGS3 & MGS4 young Big Boss sounded like Snake, but old Big Boss didnt.

Im really worried about the plot, as its developed after MGS4 and Im not really sure about what Kojima its planning or if the game is canonic with the series.

The end of MGS4 was a completed closed end for every single character. Not sure about what will he do with them…

I think Solidus sounding like Solid/Naked Snake depends on where he was raised, I think thats the reasoning behind the Liquid voice difference anyway.

That was terrible and i agree with ToungZer0 that they should’ve used CGI instead.
But in my opinion they should just cancel the game. Lol.

@3 It’s not a real Metal Gear Solid game, it’s a spin-off (like Ac!d and Ac!d 2, only not card based but hack’n slash). Kojima is not truly involved in this, he’s only kind of an excecutive (like in Lord of Shadows). I’m happy and 100% satisfied with 1, 2, 3 and 4… even Peace Walker felt a little forced into the series to me. So no need for more of this saga. I’m spending that money in other game unless it’s the true shit.

PS: What a crappy teaser. Filmmaking students could’ve done something way better.

^ They havent said outright that it isnt canon, but Kojima seemed to suggest it:

“We’ve only said that the period setting is several years after MGS4. Metal Gear Rising is not part of the Metal Gear Solid series. At present, we can’t say more than this. – Kojima”

It would be pretty dumb if this was canon, the idea that Raiden was put to normal to live his his family… Then wasnt is stupid.
