GoW: Ascension to feature “brutal” online multiplayer

I already see that Sony will market it will yet another ”beta”
And maybe if you buy Starhawk you will get early access or exclusive to beta/demo.

Can’t wait to completely ignore this feature.

I’m kind of done with God of War anyway. They could’ve tried a new setting, but they didn’t and Greek mythology has gotten pretty boring now.

Well seeing as it’s SSM, I’m prepared to give it a go.

But I don’t know if GoW really needs a multi-player mode.

Gameplay video is not that impressive graphically or with the gameplay to be honest. It looks like a simple beat em up…

But i recently watched Anarchy Reign multiplayer being played by developers and that was fun.

On topic, just because you can do a finisher with a monster (cyclops or whatever) in the end, that does not make it automatically a cool multiplayer game. First of all it must be fun killing other people because these finishers can be boring in the end.

Another unwanted and unneeded mutliplayer mode for a singleplayer game that doesn’t need it (Dead Space and Assassin’s Creed say hi!).

IMO the assassins creed multiplayer was fun. So its a nice little addition to keep u playing the game after the campaign.

Hopefully this wont be like the assassins creed multiplayer though in the sense that they wont create a good campaign for the game.
Although it does have that lovely little tagline “Ascension” which does kinda point to a jipped game with a flashy new multiplayer side to it.

It has to have it. See also Uncharted. If it’s a main Christmas game they can’t leave it out any more. Everyone expects it. I don’t see why it has to detract from the single-player at all.

Halo 4 or COD black ops 2 is welcome to these fools though.

Well, I would love to get Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks 2 ( or just a sequel to th first game that features Scorp and Sub) and I would love to see a similar multi mode there.

If anything, this looks/seems more original and fun than Sony all stars…

Think it’d make more sense to have Ascension as their big Xmas title rather than spring.

This is honestly the most refreshing take I’ve seen on the franchise since it began, and there’s a clear improvement in the graphics? It doesn’t look as “plastic” as the last one, which really took away from the nature of the setting and it’s themes.

Looking forward to giving this a whirl. Can’t say I care much for the violence porn though – there’s definitely a point where its just overkill.

It could be decent but there is no precedent.

I hate AC Brotherhood and its multiplayer. I hated BioShock 2′s mp mode and hated Dead Space 2′s mp mode (I know, gotta stop hating but come on).

Also, I really REALLY don’t care about multiplayer in general. As a singleplayer fan, this is just pointless to me.

I agree with whomever said this looks more interesting than ‘Sony Smash Bros’!

As for the topic at hand, i dont mind having multiplayer, if its done right it can be fun, like in assasins creed, at least it will be different that most shooters, and thats a great thing in my book.

Even if you are used to super high res images and whatnot, that look amazing, that doesn’t mean that these look bad.

it looks great indeed. good games don´t need good graphics anyway, artwork and gameplay counts…but in this case it looks like it´s got everything. that never hurts. can´t see a reason to complain.

I think multiplayer could be fun. I’m up for it. Something new can’t be a bad thing. If its as fun as Uncharted 3 multiplayer then great. It’s not the greatest multiplayer ever but before U3 I’d never played any games online at all. But now I play it pretty much most nights. I’ve maxed out y ranking but drawn back for more. I still get my ass destroyed and presented to me as a hat most games but nothing beats a mammoth kill streak and makes it all the more enjoyable. If God of Wars multiplayer can provide me with this many hours of fun then bring it on. Screw the Luddites.

So the first thing they show is the multiplayer that no one asked for :/ It doesn’t give this game much hope in my eyes, I would have preferred a trailer for singleplayer and then maybe some multiplayer chipped in, but all we get is a full on multiplayer piece. It seriously worries me.

Admittingly, I am somewhat with the folks here, saying it doesn’t need it (it being multiplayer), but after seeing it in action, it looks like a very interesting and fun, God of War-esque taste on some traditional multiplayer modes used in many other online games (in the case of the video, Tod Papy mentioning the mode that was being shown being more in the wake of Domination). I can’t wait to see what’s revealed next for God of War: Ascension, as well as play it for myself when this either gets a beta or demo (cause you’d have to think Sony Santa Monica’s thinking about it), or when it comes out.
