Avengers social game "just the tip of the iceberg" for tie-ins

Marvel has dropped heavy hints that some sort of game based on the Avengers will eventually surface.

In a statement published on RipTen, Marvel's vice president of game production TQ Jefferson said Facebook game Marve: Avengers Alliance isn't the end of the company's plans for the franchise.

"We launched Marvel: Avengers Alliance on Facebook; which is just the tip of the iceberg. This is the first in a much larger effort to support The Avengers franchise across not just one but multiple video game touch points," he said.

"The Avengers are bigger than just one game, and we’re planning to allow consumers to enjoy The Avengers regardless of their preference in gameplay style or platform.”

Mysterious - but whatever Marvel has up its sleeves, we do know Sega won't be involved.

The Avengers is in cinemas now, with no hint of a tie-in console release on the horizon, but Marvel: Avengers Alliance is available on Facebook and has won unusually high levels of interest.
