Rumour: PlayStation 4 to run with Native OpenGL

PlayStation 4/Orbis will run OpenGL API natively, a TSA report has said, and has been backed up by a VG247 source.

VG247 reported last week the next-gen successor would run with DirectX11. We now understand, however, that it is indeed Native OpenGL that will be used in PS4.

TSA's source claims the native OpenGL will be "much easier to use" than the API used in PlayStation 3, LibGCM.

We were told to expect the next-gen PlayStation around Christmas next year, with Sony plotting to get out ahead of Microsoft in the next-gen sweepstakes. It follows a massive Kotaku info splurge earlier this month on the machine.
