Rumour – Japanese retailer marks Wii U for November 19 US release

According to an allegedly leaked memo, Nintendo’s new Wii U console will release in the US on Sunday November 18, and a Japanese launch will follow one week later.

The memo, obtained by WiiUDaily, reportedly comes from leading Japanese retailer Media Land, and was circulated among staff at an Akihabara store before finding its way into the hands of the website.

Although apparently happy to inform Japanese retail staff of US launch plans, the memo didn’t mention anything about an European launch date.

The original Wii launched back in 19 November 2006 in the US, which was also a Sunday. It was released in Japan two weeks later, and a European launch followed three weeks later.

Nintendo’s promised to reveal a lot of details regarding its new console at E3 this year which takes place in Los Angeles from June 5.
