North American fans after a copy of The Last Story may want to go ahead and pre-order soon – as publisher XSeed have indicated the game will have a limited print run when it launches on the continent.

“We do anticipate a limited run for the game as we already have a number in mind of how many units we can expect to sell of this title, and all our pre-production efforts will be geared towards being able to manufacture a final number somewhat close to our initial estimated number,” Ken Berry, Director of Publishing at XSeed told IGN (via GoNintendo).

“It’s too early to start thinking of doing additional runs, but as a general policy we haven’t been very active on doing reprints of our other titles so far.”

Europeans were lucky enough to have access to a fairly lavish special edition of the Wii RPG, the latest from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi – but Americans may have to fight to even get the game itself. XSeed also explain in the interview that they’re looking into the prospect of a US Limited Edition package.

Nintendo published the title in Europe but passed on a US release. It’s the second in a trilogy of Wii RPGs that Nintendo of America has at least initially shunned, alongside Xenoblade Chronicles and the upcoming Pandora’s Tower.

Destructoid points out that Metroid Prime Trilogy, another limited print Wii title of interest to the core gamer market, now fetches hundreds of dollars on eBay. Might want to get those pre-orders in, then.
