Junction Point “desperately” wants to do an Epic Mickey HD port

Monday, 26th March 2012 00:16 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Warren Spector really wants to do an HD conversion of Wii exclusive Epic Mickey, now that the sequel’s gone multiplatform.

“I will tell you I desperately want to do it, and other than that I have no comment at this time,” Spector told GameInformer at GDC 2012.

“I just think it would be cool for people to see where the story started, so we’ll see. We sold many millions of copies of [Epic Mickey] on just the Wii, and being on the Wii was great. It was a perfect way to reintroduce Mickey as a hero in video games.”

I’m not sure if it makes an HD port more or less likely, but in a Gamesradar preview, Junction Point revealed that the Wii is the lead platform for Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, suggesting Disney is still firmly committed to the platform despite the sequel’s release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in northern autumn.

A 3DS spin off is also expected.

I for one would love this to happen, I own the game but have little-to-no desire to use my Wii to play it.

Best of all, there’s no speaker in the Move/Kinect, so my controller will FINALLY STOP TALKING GIBBERISH TO ME!

Even if it doesn’t happen, there’s always Dolphin.

I absolutely HATE the Wii Version of this game. A great game executed poorly on the Wii! Its camera and controls are absolutely atrocious, to the point where my wife who was watching me play got up and said,” I can’t watch this anymore it is making me so frustrated.” It was one of those rare times I honestly wanted to throw the Wiimote down!

They are pretty much doing it now. The HD version of Epic Mickey 2 looks exactly like a PORT. The HD version looks just like a Wii game only with higher resolution… Seriously, I love the idea of this game but if you’re gonna release the game for HD consoles along with Wii, you must at least try to make it look like a current gen game. So far, HD screens of Epic Mickey 2 look like an uprezzed PS2 launch title.

WTF!? They just revealed that Wii is the lead platform for Epic Mickey 2. What the hell were they thinking? It’s like making DS the lead platform for Modern Warafare just because it’s coming to HD consoles and PC as well as DS.
