Splinter Cell 6 to explore theme "at the root of the franchise," says Raymond

Splinter Cell 6 will look at a theme thats been at the core of the IP since its inception, Ubisoft Toronto boss Jade Raymond told CVG in a GDC interview.

But in the same interview, Raymond said it would maintain action movie "elements".

"It will have all of the action flick elements for sure, but we're trying to also explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that's at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much," she said.

Raymond added its priority right now is 100% on Splinter Cell 6, but noted it still intends to create a new IP at the studio.

"We're not actually working on a big new IP yet within the studio. It's one of the mandates and we're definitely starting up some things in that direction, but we're not working on a big new IP yet. Right now we're 100% focussed on Splinter Cell."

Raymond said at GDC it was close to unveiling the first main Splinter Cell installment since 2010's Conviction.
