Guild Wars 2 beta invites going out, include strict NDA

Monday, 19th March 2012 02:11 GMT By Brenna Hillier

ArenaNet has confirmed it has begun sending out beta key invites for Guild Wars 2 – but warned players not to get chatty about it or risk losing access.

“Yes, beta invitations have begun going out. They’ll be sent out over the next few days,” the developer confirmed on the MMORPG’s Facebook page.

“Please remember that discussing the beta in any way, shape, or form – including your status in it – is a breach of NDA. Don’t risk your beta access,” it added.

Since I forgot to register – unlike 1 million better organised gamers – I am pretty sure I’m not breaking an NDA to say I’m not in it. Curses.

Keep an eye on your inbox over the next few days, and be sure to check your spam and junk folders.

Guild Wars 2 is expected to launch this year. The current closed beta is its first major test.

Thanks, Mythor!

And unlike my friend who lives in France, who registered later than I did and who never bought any of their games, I, who live in Romania, who registered from the first day and who bought all of their games, twice, did not receive an invitation. Racism ftl.

Racism? Really. Good grief, don’t be so incredibly petty. And don’t be a dork.

They said at the start of the beta that they’ll be taking people in based on hardware requirements. This is actually a beta. It’s not WoW, guy, and you should know this. They’re actually doing real beta tests. Thus they want to test their graphics engine on certain graphics card & CPU combos.

What’s happened here is that you don’t have a graphics card & CPU combo that they want to test right now. You could have the best card on the market, but it may be something they’ve already tested extensively. Some of the people in the alpha could have had your hardware configuration exactly. Thus that would have made your chances of getting into the beta impossible.

    Racism my arse.

I have to say this… I dislike people with your mindset, I dislike them strongly. I’m sorry, but really? Grow up. I’ve had to deal with REAL discrimination as a gay person, it’s not fun. A company not choosing you for beta testing is NOT racism.

Now come down from cloud cuckoo land and join the rest of us here on earth.
