Double Fine Kickstarter hits $3 million

Ahead of its deadline later tonight, Double Fine's Kickstarter page to raise funds for a click-and-point adventure game has now raised $3 million.

Fundraising will cease on the page later tonight UK time. The studio plans to celebrate that by hosting a livestream tonight.

Double Fine started the Kickstarter following the release of Double Fine Action Theatre to raise $400,000 for a click-and-point action adventure title and a documentary filmed by 2-Player Productions.

However, it managed to raise $1 million within its first 24 hours, showing a possible way forward for the industry in the same vein Radiohead did years ago.

It broke the $2 million barrier soon after that.
