The Boondock Saints Video game announced at SXSW

As promised, a game based on 1999 film The Boondock Saints has been formally unveiled at SXSW.

Most of the panel was spent on fan activities, but Joystiq reports a very short trailer was shown at the end.

Although the game was said to be at a playable prototype stage a year ago, the trailer showed off assets only - a fly through of an alley environment and some static character models.

The panel revealed Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and David Della Rocco will provided voices for the characters they played in the film, and more interestingly are creatively involved with the project.

Don't get too excited just yet; no publisher or release date was mentioned.

Late last month, developer Critical Mass said the game is to be a co-operative shooter for PC and Xbox 360, with a PlayStation 3 release possible. More information is expected at E3.
