Rovio: It’s up to Sony whether Angry Birds will eventually release on Vita

Saturday, 10th March 2012 14:40 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Rovio’s plans for porting Angry Birds Space are just as ambitious as they were with the original, Rovio’s chief marketing Peter Vesterbacka has said the firm would like to see Angry Birds Space “on all the screens,” but due to limited resources, it focused on Android, iOS, Mac and PC for launch with other platforms coming “shortly after.”

Speaking with Joystiq during SXSW, Vesterbacka said with the “all screens” plan in mind, it’s unsure what to do about Vita “yet.”

“The Vita we haven’t decided what to do about yet, but of course we want to be on all the screens, so let’s see how the Vita does in the market,” he said. “Of course, always when working with these console guys it’s not that we can decide, it’s really if Sony wants to have Angry Birds on Vita.

“It’s more up to them than to us.”

Vesterbacka went on to say the back catalog of Angry Birds is still coming to 3DS and will be released “pretty soon.”

Angry Birds Space is out March 22.

Why? More options the better, just ‘cuz you don’t like it, doesn’t mean everyone else with a Vita agrees with you.

@1,2 many heavyweight japanese titles were announced for vita. It was stupid to expect games like gta or cod or bioshock on a show that was meant for japanese owners.
If agry birds space is released on vita, I hope its priced appropriately.
