MGS HD Collection gets European summer release, first footage

Friday, 9th March 2012 11:15 GMT By Johnny Cullen

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PlayStation Vita will release on June 28 in Japan, with Konami confirming a European summer release.

The Japanese release date came from a video series from Sony announcing new titles for the system this morning.

The Vita version of the pack, which came to consoles in Europe last month, will feature Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Peace Walker won’t be included in the handheld collection compared to its console counterparts.

“The PlayStation Vita system will provide fans with an exciting new way to enjoy the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection,” said Konami European GM Martin Schneider.

“We’re confident that users will be pleased with the new innovations Kojima Productions have implemented with the new PlayStation Vita iterations, offering a truly unique experience for this exciting new format.”

MGS HD Vita will come with touch-screen and touchpad controls, Konami confirmed.

MGS creator Hideo Kojima has teased pictures of the Vita version running before, but never shown any footage of it until now. You can get that below, as well as an interview with the man himself on it, plus more on Transfarring.

I’m sorry, but what the Fuck?

3DS have MGS 3DS that is enchanced version with MGS 4 controls and some bonuses + 3D mode for people who like 3D effects.
Vita version is exactly the same as on PS2/PS3 console but without additional stuff + you need to buy a different version.

I don’t like it. I’m not sure that it is right way to treat your customers Sony/Konami.

New Metal Gear or ZOE for Vita would be nice, but cheap console port?

I liked PSP, but i was sick of Ports, ports and ports. I don’t buy a system for ports. I bought PS Vita, but feeling like i bought it for ports. So here you have it… Rage mode.

Please, you’re embarrassing yourself (as always). MGS3D has no extra content, not even the Subsistence stuff, its barebones MGS3, hell it actually has less content then the original PS2 release. And no, it doesnt have MGS4′s controls. What it does feature is poor gameplay (unless you’re willing to buy the circle pad pro) and performance issues. Oh, and some new menus, yipee.

Why would anyone want to spend money on a horrible cash-in when -for the same price- you can get a more playable version of the same game with extra content, plus another game (MGS2) in the same package? You’d have to be some sort of slobbering retar- oh sorry, forgot who i was talking to.

I also think mgs:pw will be included in western version as japanese ps3 release also did not contain peace walker.
In 3ds you only get mgs3 whereas in vita you get mgs hd collection (2-3 games in one package) .Vita is probably the only portable to be able to support the hd collection .
    Vita rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sure about that? I never saw anywhere what a Vita version actually consists of. Just some title-screen tease in a photo from Kojima.

Please Konami, dont f*ck off with this in Occident. The pack must bring for Vita the Peace Walker [Hd Edition or not] too, not separated.

@1 You don’t know much about 3DS version do you? It is a barebones port of the ORIGINAL PS2 version (Not the superior Subsistance with extra content). It has a tacked on 3D with a few nice 3D effects but all of that is destroyed due to horrible frame-rate even with lowered graphics compared to PS2 version (And yes, I’ve seen the 3DS version in action and it is NOT on par with PS2 visually).

There is NO additional content and it suffer from sever control problems thanks to lack of second analogue. It’s pretty much like a failed PSP port of an PS2 game only with less content, worse frame-rate and much uglier graphics.
