Lord of the Rings and DDO demos coming to Gaikai

Gaikai has announced an agreement with Warner Bros. which incorporates playable, browser-based game demos for the Lord of the Rings Online as well as Dungeons & Dragons Online which will be the first MMOs to surface on the streaming service.

Each demo will be streamed via each game's respective website and will eliminate the need for North American users to download and install clients in order to try the games out.

"MMOs have always been one of the key genres that we've wanted to deliver via the cloud," says Gaikai's executive vice president Robert Stevenson in the press release.

"Never before has it been possible to play MMOs in this way."

David Perry called the deal a "coup" when he spoke with VentureBeat on the matter, adding that  he was "surprised" when "we got this one."
