Cross-play multiplayer cancelled for Counter Strike: Global Offensive

Valve has cancelled cross-platform multiplayer between PC, Mac, and PS3 in Counter Strike: Global Offensive based on data received from the game’s beta.

Speaking with Joystiq, Valve’s Chet Faliszek told the site the stripping of said functionality was done in favor of “offering constant updates for players on the PC and Mac.”

“The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC,” said Faliszek. “To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn’t hamstring the other.

“So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play — essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them.”

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will launch this summer and the latest screenshots from the Xbox Spring Showcase in San Francisco are through here.

Well guys i would love to see the match between the best control pad gamer and the best mouse+board gamer, it will settle which one is the best once and for all 8D.
P.S of course without any cheating, a clean and fair match

#7, well thats the most possible outcome, although i´ve seen pretty wild things/stuff done with the control pad by some great gamers, therefore maybe it will be a closer match that many would think of it 8D

they probably realised how inaccurate a DS3 pad is and thought jesus, no one on ps3 will play it, they need auto aim, and because of that they take away cross platform.
