Assassin’s Creed III – first shots, art, and details leak
AGB has posted shots of Assassin’s Creed III, which we’re assuming were leaked out of Game Informer, and now NeoGAF has gone live with what are apaprently details out of the latest issue of the magazine.

According to information posted on GAF, our new protagonist is half-English, half-Mohawk with his English name being Connor. His Native American name is Ratohnhake (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo).
We thought he looked a bit Native American.
He was raised by the Mohawk until Colonists burned the village down, and he has sworn vengeance for the injustice.
Both the Colonists and British will have protagonist and antagonistic sides to them and it is set in Boston and New York between the years 1753 and 1783.
The map size will be 1.5 times that of Brotherhood and players will be able to explore historical buildings and reenact events such as the New York fires and Washington’s occupation at Valley Forge.
An upgraded version of the engine allows “a couple thousand” characters on-screen at once in order to support such battles.
GI has exclusive month long coverage of the title, which is to be formally announced by Ubisoft on Monday.
Slated for an October release, the game takes place during the American Revolution period, as the GI cover and box art from yesterday revealed.
Go have a look at the screens here.
Meanwhile, the official website for the game has started it’s official countdown to Monday.

I think my problem at first was that i didn’t want the series to change that much… but this is true progression… this is how you keep things fresh. I really did have my heart set on the french revolution though, but then that would have turned out to be just like 1, 2 & the spinoffs exept in a different setting. Im sure though that with 3 years of dev time they’ve came up with something pretty special.
edit: is this a scoop btw?? i don’t see any other site covering it. YAY for VG247

Oh damn, that looks pretty amazing. It wouldn’t make sense to make him native American though, likely it just extends to the costumes and weapons. Some of the other shots show him wearing something similar to the minutemen.
I really hope they leave the whole “20% actual content and 80% repitition” behind for this one. At least 10 hours of AC2 was just filler.
I’m going to end up reinstalling Empire: Total War looking at that though

AS much as I did want Victorian England, I do understand why thy thought this would be more interesting on the whole as it’s a chance to do an environment not yet attempted in AC.

@13 Sure it would! The NA’s fought the British as much as they did the colonials – and rightly so. /steps off soapbox

@16 Maybe before the actual revolution (the French had a less racist approach to the native Americans, and so managed to recruit a lot more) but the colonials were a far bigger threat than the British, and the native Americans were smart enough to know that.
There were obviously contingents of native Americans who decided to fight against the British, but the overwhelming majority fought against the colonials, which helped to shape a large part of the argument for the ensueing persecution and marginalization of the native American population.
The argument was that because the native Americans chose to attack when the colonials were already suffering invasion, they had lost all legitimacy to bargain with the new American nation. Which was really just a continuation of the disputes they had with eachother before the revolution.
Although part of the British succes in recruiting indian tribes for the war was down to basically paying them off. Which they planned on doing even after admitting defeat, hoping to back a sovereign indian nation to oppose the colonials.
That doesn’t change reality though. Making the claim that the majority of native Americans sided with (soon to be) “America” would be down to misplaced political correctness.

Got to admit, despite initial misgivings, it does look decent. This might be a much needed change of pace.
I will miss leaping from rooftop to rooftop, but hopefully there will be a suitable wilderness-based equivalent to hand. I didn’t have much fun with horses in AC:Brotherhood, though, and I suspect they’ll be back given the setting… hopefully they’ll be less of a headache this time around.

New info about the game(some minor SPOILERS ahead):
)and Charles Lee. However, this does not mean that the Americans are the good guys and the British are the bad guys. Templars are everywhere…
).
- The new Assassin is the son of a Native American woman and a British soldier. His calls himself Connor, but his birth name is Ratohnhaké:ton. Born into the Mohawk, he eventually crosses paths with the Assassins in his search for righteousness.
- Connor is quiet and stoic, letting actions speak for words rather than conversing with others. In contrast to Ezio, Connor is a freedom fighter who acts in the name of justice rather than on personal revenge.
- Settings will include Boston, New York and a large countryside. The countryside will be the setting of about 1/3 of the game, and will be the location of many events during the game. The countryside will be about 1.5 times as big as Rome in Brotherhood.
- The protagonist will fight on the American side, with primary allies George Washington, Benjamin Franklin(called it
- There will be seasons in the game, meaning that the sun will shine during summer and the landscape will be covered in snow during winter.
- Fighting and stealth will be completely re-innovated, with Connor being compared to a “predator”. The player will be able to climb trees and other natural elements, and dual-wielding weapons such as a dagger and a mohawk is now also an option.
- Animals will be present in the woods, like deer and bears. The player will be able to kill them and pelt their skins, to sell them later with the reformed economic system of the game.
- There will be puzzles similar to The Truth, only they will not be given by Subject 16.
- Desmond will go into the new Animus 3.0 and will find himself going into “significant events”.
- 100% sync in memories returns, though this time you will be rewarded when you complete memories to 100%. Checkpoints will also be introduced to mission replay, meaning you don’t have to replay an entire mission to get that 100% sync.
- The Brotherhood, or Assassins Guild, will return in some form, albeit differently than we have seen before.
There will be no more Mercenaries, Thieves, Courtesans, Romani or other factions, but there will be a replacement for them.
- Den Defense will not return(YAY

That does make it historically accurate then. A few of the indians who did fight on the American side were Mohawks
Night elf mohawks, in fact.
That sounds really great though, nice one Edo!

I read all the scans, and thus all those details and this sounds exactly like what AC needed. ACII was amazing but in Brotherhood things started to drag and get boring, not to mention Revelations.
This shows what a four year development time can do for your game. I really can’t wait to see this one in motion.

If it would be the THIRD GAME, I would get it. And if it was going to be a complete game and not have part of it like DLCs.

I really like the idea of hiding in trees.
I dispise the fact hes another Half-Native main character like almost every other game set in or around the sametime period. Its a lazy way of avoiding being called racist when you have to kill kemosabees.
That and Red, White and Blue on the costume. OH FUCK YEAH ITS TIME. AMERICA.
