The Cave is not Double Fine's Kickstarter project

Double Fine has told Gamespot that its recent trademark filing for The Cave has nothing to do with the firm's Kickstarter project.

"While we can't comment on unannounced projects, we can say that Double Fine's Kickstarter-funded adventure game has not been started, designed, or even imagined yet. No trademarks have been filed on its behalf," read the statement.

Earlier this week, a trademark filed in the US by the firm for “The Cave” lead the Internet to believe it could be the name of the Kickstarter project.

In the end, it may the other title Doubel Fine has in the works. Maybe.

The firm's Kickstarter project has so far netted $2,322,508 in funds provided by 67,374 backers. If you would like to contribute, there are 12 days left to do so.
