Double Fine files trademark for The Cave
Double Fine has filed a trademark in the US for “The Cave” which is leading the Internet to believe this could be what it’s Kickstarter project is called.
Filed on February 22 and dug up by trademark sleuth Siliconera, Double Fine has yet to announce what its next project is to be called, but if a video chat between Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert is any indication, it may go the “old school” 2D route.
So far, $2,281,716 has been contributed to the project by 66,257 backers.
If you would like to contribute, you have 14 more days to do so.
Upon release, the game will be made available for PC, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS with a closed beta at each stage of the game’s development for Kickstarter backers. ADRM-free version will be provided for backers as well.

This is shaping up to be something interesting.
Though it is slightly odd that they’re aiming at the 30 minute mark as the total length for their game.

It was mentioned in the chat that Schafer had with Gilbert. Which you really should have watched if you’re a backer! They bring it up multiple times and finally settle on 30 minutes as a good length.

On the other hand, Schafer has said that their ambitions are different now due to the amount of money they got.
