Android global tally reaches 300 million

There are now 300 million Android devices in the wild, Google SVP Andy Rubin announced at the Mobile World Congress.

IndustryGamers reports the tally includes 12 million tablets, but excludes Android-based and non-Google serviced products like the Kindle Fire.

850,000 devices are activated every day; and there are now 450,000 Android apps, a tripling of the 150,000 count revealed at the MWC last year.

There are over 800 different Android devices, according to the Google Mobile blog.
