World of Darkness’ “kick ass core team” is AAA sized

Despite staff layoffs and a slowdown of development, CCP is still fielding a full development team for World of Darkness.

“Having rolled over here from Trion and NCsoft myself, the team on World of Darkness is the size of a AAA game team,” CCP CMO David Reid told Rock Paper Shotgun of the White Wolf-licensed MMO.

“The company has not been shy about putting its resources there in parallel with Eve and Dust.”

“We have a kick-ass core team on World of Darkness already and it’s inspiring to see how much progress they’ve made, ever since we went through last year’s restructuring,” CEO Pétursson added.

“There’s no need to worry about World of Darkness. That team is kicking ass and taking names.”

CCP’s restructuring resulted in the company announcing that work on the much-anticipated MMO would continue at a “much slower pace“. Since these new comments suggest a full team is still on board, it’s interesting to speculate on how quickly development proceeded before this.

World of Darkness is based on the role-playing license of the same name, and the initial release will focus on vampires.

I kind of wish they’d stop calling it World of Darkness. (Not blaming you, Brenna! I know CCP calls it that, not you.) The thing is is that it’s really just a Vampire: The Masquerade MMO, it’s not ‘World of Darkness’ at all. It’s just a very specific part of oWoD.

Unless they’ve slipped in Mage, Changeling, Werewolf, Wraith, Hunter, Demon, et cetera behind my back… but that’s unlikely.

@5 You sad fellow middle-easterner. Why? Just because you can’t afford/don’t want to maintain a subscription that doesn’t mean MMOs are a bad thing. And they’re not…

@6 i’m not saying they’re bad , i’m saying there are lots of them and yes i don’t want to maintain a subscription :D . its because of the money exchange actually . 1$ is equal to 1000T here . so 50$ is 50000T which is too expensive for a game and believe me , thats not funny :(

@7 dude are you living in a cave? :D it’s about 1900T atm. and it’s actually a lot more expensive. But you can play GuildWars 2 it’s Free 2 Play, or better say buy 2 play. Meaning once you bought the game you wont need to pay a dime to maintain a sub.

But yeah, that’s not funny at all. Since 3 months ago the dollar price madness is bothering me a lot. I had to pay for a WoW gamecard 60000T (600,000 Rials) and I used to purchase it for 35000T which was more acceptable. Buying PS3 games are now impossible or to be more delicately put, you must be out of your freaking mind to purchase a game on PS3 around here.
