Guild Wars 2 beta starts March, sign ups peaked at 4,000 per minute

The Guild Wars 2 beta drew so much interest that the sign-up page crashed regularly, but still processed a massive number of registrants.

Further to the revelation that the 48-hour sign-up period drew 1 million registrants, NCSoft has gleefully announced that at the peak of interest, sign-ups reached a rate of 4,000 per minute.

Registrations came from 224 countries and "all seven continents", which may or may not include Antartica depending on how you classify Eurasia.

The next closed beta is scheduled for late March and will include World vs World events.

The MMORPG clearly qualifies for highly-anticipated status, and is expected to launch this year.
